The archipelago is also called ‘Perfumes ‘islands' or ‘Moon's islands'. It is made up of four islands located on the western Ocean Indian:
- Ngazidja (1,148 square km)
- Mwali (290 square km)
- Ndzuani (424 km)
Those ones are independent since July 6 th 1975.
Maore (374 square km) is linked to France and will become an overseas french department in 2011.
